The 60th Annual Meeting of
the Japanese Society for Inherited Metabolic Diseases

The 16th Asian Symposium of Inherited Metabolic Diseases

(Professor, Department of Pediatrics,
Graduate School of Medicine, Gifu University)

It is my proud and great pleasure to invite you to join the 60th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Inherited Metabolic Diseases being held on 2018 November 8-10 at Juroku Plaza, Gifu, Japan
Since its foundation in 1965, the Japanese Society for Inherited Metabolic Diseases has devoted itself to academic-society activities during its long history, with the year 2018 marking its memorable 60th academic meeting. While many of the Society members are pediatricians, some are obstetrician-gynecologists, and researchers in clinical genetics and the basic medical sciences.
I feel that the Society has recently been further livened up by development of new remedies, expansion of the scope of newborn screening-targeted disorders, and other developments in this field. The membership of the Society has been also increasing for recent years to exceed 650, and it is expected that the 2018 meeting will attract about 400 attendees.
We are planning the 60th annual meeting to include general presentation sessions, special lectures, educational lectures, symposia and other events, aiming for a meeting to unite doctors and researchers in various standpoints under the theme “Let’s Talk about Inherited Metabolic Diseases” to make presentations on and discuss the cases they have dealt with, their ongoing studies, related situations abroad and other topics. We are also planning to offer simultaneous interpretation services for as many events as possible in main presentation room for two days to have lectures and symposiums in English interpreted into Japanese and have presentations in Japanese interpreted into English, so that attendees both from Japan and abroad can enjoy attending the meeting. We will strive to achieve a more productive meeting by especially encouraging young doctors and researchers to attend it.
We look forward to meeting you all in Gifu.
